Mushaboom

It was brought to my attention that I had a blog. As alarming as that may sound, it's true...I forgot entirely. This could be attributed to the fact I am an idiot...or maybe because my mind has been scouring through of lines and pages of Shakespeare and literature pre-1800 for the past two weeks. Either way, there is no excuse for abadoning the fine institution of internet blogging.

Anyway...

I guess I will keep up with it again...or so I say.

I Can't Go For That

So, since I have this new obsession with covers, I have found a band that does cute and awesome covers of songs that I strangely love. Maybe you have heard of them, The Bird and The Bee, I mean seriously who hasn't? That's rhetorical. They have a whole album in honor of Hall and Oates, which is probably one of the best ideas I have ever heard of. Anyway, here are a couple of their covers and my fave Sia even has some vocals in their cover of "How Deep Is Your Love."

"How Deep Is Your Love" Originally by The Bee Gees

"Private Eyes" Originally by Hall and Oates

"I Can't Go For That" Originally by Hall and Oates

Check them out though if you enjoy Hall and Oates...like I weirdly do.

Rooney

So I went to Fredricksburg yesterday to visit some friends from school and they have so many shopping centers, it is outrageous. I don't know what some of my other friends who go to Mary Washington were saying when they had nothing to do. Anyway, I was very intrigued the whole time and enjoyed my trip. When down there, I went to see "Grown Ups" the new comedy featuring Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, David Spade, Rob Schneider, and Kevin James. Now, I thought this was going to be hilarious, I mean here are five great comedians who have different styles which gives this group great dynamics. However, while I laughed, some of the laughter was forced and I found that parts that meant to be funny well...weren't funny at all. Don't get me wrong, it was an okay movie, but not as epic as me and I'm sure others expected it to be. I don't want to ruin the movie for anyone, so I would recommend that you see it, but don't expect to laugh as hard as you thought you would. Also, some might say it is because I am not a "grown up" myself and did not understand the comedy of it, but trust me, its not that complicated. Although this was a little wary for me, I still love all who was in it, even the random people in it, like Maya Rudolph.

LOL: The Critics Hate "Grown Ups"

On another note, in my quest for song covers, it came to my attention that there are some covers of "Womanizer" by Britney Spears. Here is the original and some covers to compare with:

Britney's Original

Lily Allen

Franz Ferdinand

Venetian Princess

All-American Rejects

LOL to all of these. Also, if you are wondering who that super attractive guy in Britney's version is Brandon Stoughton, of course I looked him up. Also, I'm not sure which one was my favorite but let me know if you have one!

I'll Be Gone

How many covers can there be of "Take on Me" originally by A-ha. Well here are some I found:

Sara Bareilles

Reel Big Fish

Northern Kings

Emil Bulls

Family Guy

The Jonas Brothers version was just too hard to listen to...man, it was bad. This coming from a person who does not hate the Jonas Brothers. Also my favorite has to be Northern Kings, because it is just a huge LOL.
